Rihanna will grace the cover of ELLE UK’s April 2013 Issue. Here’s a first look (Updated 3.10.13):
Elle UK has taken to their website to reveal Rihanna’s brand new cover shoot for their April issue. She was photographed by Peruvian photographer Mariano Vivanco in a series of monochrome outfits.
Mariano Vicanco has done shoots for many internationally recognized magazines, including covers for Dazed & Confused, Muse Magazine, Vogue Hommes Nippon, Numéro, Numéro Homme, i-D, Hercules, Electric Youth, Details, GQ Italy, GQ Spain, Man About Town, Wonderland, Allure, Elle, as well as the American, Russian, Spanish, Turkish, Japanese and Greek editions of Vogue. Rihanna brought her glam team: stylist Mel Ottenberg, make up artist Mylah Morales, and hair stylist Ursula Stephen on board for yet another amazing project.
Louis Vuitton | Rihanna For River Island
On this cover of Elle UK, (one of the four) Rihanna is wearing a cropped top from Louis Vuitton’s Spring/Summer 2013 Collection and a zip detail maxi skirt from her River Island Collection. She coupled this with a matching checkered skirt and heels from the Louis Vuitton collection in another photo from the spread pictured below. Marc Jacobs explained what his inspiration was for this “checkerboard theme” he had this to say according to VOGUE UK:
He had been inspired by the work of artist Daniel Buren – with whom he collaborated on the set too. “His work is very graphic with the use of grids and so I took inspiration from his sculptures and installations,” said Jacobs backstage after the show. And the escalators were a case in point. “They’re a moving pattern, a rhythm, it’s a mathematical equation,” he said. “I just liked graphic patterns, the colour with light.” AnnaSophia Robb also wore the Louis Vuitton Spring 2013 Checkerboard Crop Top and Miniskirt in Teen Vogue’s February 2013 issue.
